For intro students I typically spend the first month really working hand in hand with aperture and shutter speed. We play a lot with slow shutter speeds since I find that discussion tends to really create the most ‘aha!’ moments for things to click but we also spend a good amount of time on fast shutter speeds in the beginning of the semester. I have had some excellent student work in this category and some very fun in-class projects.
