Projects within these themes usually entail finding shadow, or repetition and encouraging students to get closer to the subject matter to disconnect the viewer from the identity of what is in the photograph. This allows further investigation from the viewer, thus making them spend more time with the photograph. Oppositely, photographing full scale buildings or architectural based subject matter allows students to pull back and close down their aperture to get high clarity and full detail within the frame of their images.
